Jargon: IP
IP Definition
Internet protocol is the set of rules computers use to send messages via other connected computers. These connected computers form networks and along with Internet Protocol, we have the internet. The internet, and IP relies on addresses to identify where information should end up. These addresses are called IP Addresses.
IPv4 and IPv6
IPv4 is the current, major, and dominant version of Internet Protocol. With the availability of mobile technology, IPv4 is running out of addresses to give new devices. IPv6 is the next step to give new devices homes online. The number of available addresses in IPv6 compares to the estimated number of atoms in the observable universe. I think we'll fine for a while!
